Director and Principal Consultant

I am a senior food safety, technical and quality professional with over 25 years’ experience in the food industry.

 

I have held Group and National level technical and quality leadership roles internationally across a range of high risk and ambient food categories: dairy, ready to eat salad, bakery, milling, fresh poultry and ready to eat poultry. I have held these senior roles in large national and international organisations: Dairy Crest and 2 Sisters Food Group in the UK; Golden State Foods, Ingham’s and Allied Mills in Australia.

 

My career has included all technical & quality areas throughout the supply chain from supplier auditing and management, through operational food hygiene, food safety and quality management systems, process control, pest management and GMP, to crisis and business continuity management, consumer care, specifications, labelling and legislation, laboratory management and customer technical liaison. 

 

I have managed central technical & quality teams, focusing on compliance, and led multiple site-based quality teams to meet day to day challenges and deliver major quality improvement projects. I have managed teams of up to 70 staff based across up to 12 manufacturing sites. 

 

As a consultant I have worked with clients across Asia, Australasia, Europe and Africa, providing calm support in crisis situations, conducting supplier audits, BRC gap assessments, complaint investigations, pest management reviews, foreign matter audits, site security audits and internal training. I have simplified complex FSQMS systems, updated HACCP studies, developed internal audit systems, and conducted TACCP and VACCP risk assessments.

 

I have supported clients with practical operational support to embed new ways of working and facilitated succession planning and technical skill development through coaching and training technical and operational teams.

 

I have strong root cause analysis skills that are utilised in the technical and operational investigation of food safety or quality issues. I have the ability to quickly assess and manage issues calmly and confidently to ensure that they do not become crises.

 

I have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and build trust with teams, customers and clients through a consistent approach and delivering results quickly and efficiently. I am always practical and challenge existing ideas and processes in a positive and constructive way.

 

I work in close partnership with clients to ensure their businesses meet regulatory requirements, reduce operational and reputational risk and reduce costs.
